My whole life I've wanted to understand how things work and always took pride in learning new things and then applying that knowledge to achieving the things I wanted to get gone. As I got older and busier, I found that I had less and less time to actually do the things I needed to get done. So I'd just hire someone right? Even though I was going to hire someone, I still wanted to know what they were doing, so I would research it before or after the work.
I realized early on in life, GOD set me up with a pretty good BS detector. Because of that, and paying close attention, I started to find that good, honest contractors/tradesmen with integrity were few and far between.
EXAMPLE : When my AC system stopped cooling one time, I called a tech and watched him to his work. After watching him do a couple of things he said : "Your HVAC air handler is shot, you need a new one", how much? I asked. Well, "blaaaaa, blaaaaa, BS BS... It's still under warranty, but.... blaaa blaaaa, BS.... $2500". "umm. ok I'll call you" and showed him the door.
